Muddy Boots Tours this SPRING!

Amber guiding a Fall School Group Tour

Why are field trips so important?
Real life learning experiences are essential in the growth and development of young children. The goal of our educational school group tours is to provide up-close-and-personal experiences concerning what farm life is really like. Our field trips allow the children to see, hear, smell, feel and sometimes taste some of the realities of farm life. So much of learning is making connections to real experiences. Here at Miller’s Orchards we connect head knowledge about plants and animals with hands-on experiential knowledge.

Who can come?
Our lessons are generally geared for preschool to early elementary groups. Each lesson is designed to be developmentally appropriate for the age of the students of that group. However, we can easily adapt our lessons to be developmentally appropriate for any group that comes and happily welcome older ages and mixed aged groups.

What will you be learning about??
That depends on which lesson you choose! This spring, we are offering two different types of lessons. Choose the type of lesson that will best fit the needs of your class!!

Lesson 1: What Healthy Plants Need to Grow!
Explore our fields first hand! See what our fields look like while we are in the beginning stages of planting. Learn about different types of fields, see how we water our crops, and plant seeds that you can take home to watch grow!

Lesson 2: Healthy Animals=Happy Animals!
Learn more about our farm animals! See our adorable baby chicks, pet the feathers of a small pullet, and learn about our laying flock and their eggs! Also enjoy planting seeds that you can take home and watch grow!

Both lessons also include:
⦁ Planting sunflowers
⦁ A fun Farm Hayride
⦁ Our super pipe slides and playground
⦁ A picnic area for your bagged lunch or snack
⦁ Shopping in the Farm Market if you so desire
